As the world marks the International Youth Day today, the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor has described the youth as important component of the society and back bone of every nation.

 

In his goodwill message to the youth of Anambra State as they join their counterparts in celebrating the day, Right Honourable Okafor advised the federal government to map out solid youth empowerment programmes to fix the youths into meaningful ventures.

 

The speaker who commended Governor Willie Obiano for creating an enabling environment for youths in the State to showcase their potentials by providing employments, empowerment’s and political appointments for them, assured that the State legislature would continue to enact laws and resolutions aimed at improving the status of youths of the state.

 

He expressed satisfaction that Anambra State is leading the nation’s campaign on youth inclusiveness in governance, adding that both the State executive council and State legislature have a record of over eighty percent youth membership respectively.

 

Right Honourable Okafor while urging youths in the State to shun acts capable of debasing their integrity, such as political thuggery, rape and other vices, advised them to uphold those virtues that will guarantee a brighter future for them.
