A two day annual conference of Pentecostal Bishops Association of Anambra State PBAAS, Onitsha Zone, has ended with a call on the church to pray and fast for Nigeria and her political leaders in the face of insecurity ravaging the nation.
The Chairman, Pentecostal Bishops Association of Anambra State, Archbishop Dr Ephraim Ndife gave the charge in his message during the conference at Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Correspondent, Emengini Osadebe, reports that the event attracted Archbishops, Bishops, Ministers, Elders, Deacons and church workers within and outside the state.
Archbishop Ndife who harped on the theme of the conference “Duties of the Church in Challenging Times” regretted the rate of insecurity and disunity going on in the country and said that it is the responsibility of the church to ensure lasting peace and security through their prayers and supplications.
The member, Representing Njikoka One Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma who spoke on the topic “Church’s Role to Governance” described the church as the salt and light of the world, hence the need for them to wake up and get involved in politics in order to entrench good governance.
In their separate speeches, Bishop Tim Obidike and Bishop AA Nwodika called on the clergy to preach the Gospel of truth and salvation to mankind with patience and Love as well as strive to enthrone God’s Mountain above every other Mountain of the world in order to end evil in the society.
A Bishop from Ogidi who resides in Enugu state, Right Reverend Obi Onubogu regretted that most men of God are living false lives thereby leading their flocks astray.
Others present at the event were Bishop Dr Ozioma Ozoemena who spoke on the topic “Peaceful Coexistence against Numerous Crisis in Our Time” as well as Bishop Louis Morah.
