The Anambra state Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha has called on principals of both public and private secondary schools in the state to be responsible in raising the education standards of their various schools for improved academic excellence.

 

The Commissioner made this call at Madonna Renewal Centre, Nkpor venue of the ongoing 2021 retreat of principals of Secondary Schools in Anambra state, organized by the state Post-Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC.

the Six-day Principals retreat which commenced on Monday eighth of August, with the theme “Schools Principals In The twenty first Century Knowledge Economy” attracted Principals across the state who are being groomed on how best to lead and impact qualitative education on the twenty-first century students.

 

Professor Omenugha harped on the need for the principals and teachers in the state to keep improving themselves on daily bases, to be able to impact quality, reliable, value-based and productive knowledge on students.

 

The Commissioner further urged the Principals to always live by example in their various schools, as it is the easiest way to make an impact on the young ones. She urged them to keep supporting Governor Willie Obiano who has done so much for the development of education in the state.

 

On her part, the Chairman, Post – Primary Schools Service Commission, Lady Ify Okaro explained that the principals’ retreat is an annual event aimed at equipping the head teachers with knowledge that will help them impact positive change to their students as well as achieve academic excellence in their various schools.

 

Lady Okaro commended Governor Willie Obiano and the state Commissioner for Basic Education for transforming the education sector, and assured that the principals and teachers will continue to contribute their quota in the repositioning of the sector for the benefit of the state’s future generation.j

In a vote of thanks, a Board Member of PPSSC Ogidi Zone, Dr Ngozi Agbasimalo appreciated Governor Obiano led administration for all round empowerment of teachers in the state with necessary knowledge and skills to measure up with their counterparts in the global community and called on teachers in the state to participate actively in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state to elect someone that would surpass what Governor Obiano has done in the education sector. UP SOT

 

The event featured administration of oath of office on newly appointed principals by the Commissioner, and special songs of praise for Professor Omenugha and Governor Obiano by the head teachers.
