The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ASPHCDA, Dr. Mrs. Chioma Ezenyimulu has called for continued observance of COVID-19 protocols among Ndi-Anambra.
Dr. Mrs. Ezenyimulu made the call at the commissioning and handover ceremony of Agulu-Awka Primary Healthcare Centre, Umuogbu Village Awka.
Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that the health facility, built by Ulonese, Agulu-Awka Committee and facilitated by one time Presidential Adviser, High Chief Ben Obi, has among other things, injection/dressing room, labour/delivery room, postnatal ward, theatre, Doctor’s office, laboratory office, male and female wards, pharmacy office and outpatient department among others.
Dr. Ezenyimulu, who was represented by the director, Disease Control and Immunization, ASPHCDA, Dr. Nnamdi Uliagbafusi, urged Ndi-Anambra to take advantage of another round of COVID-19 vaccination exercise, which she said will commence today, to ensure that the state is free of the pandemic, especially its new variant.
The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, Dr. Josephat Akabike in his remark, regretted dearth of Primary Healthcare Centers in the country, noting that over sixty percent of illnesses can be treated at the primary level, the reason Anambra State Government is determined to improve Primary Healthcare Development Agency in the state.
In their speeches, High Chief Obi, represented by Chief Ifeanyichukwu Enukora, chairman, Ulonese Agulu-Awka Committee, Deacon Peter Anekwe and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of ABS, Dr. Uche Nworah, represented by the manager of news ABS, Mr. Abuchi Nwozor, thanked the community for making the land available and government for helping to realize the dream, calling on people to use the health facility to ensure healthy living.
Prospective beneficiaries, including Messrs. Onyechi Ejike, Jeff Obuora and Mrs. Martha Chinweuba, who said their joy knew no bounds, promised to sensitize others on the services available at the health center.
The event climaxed with cutting of tape by the chairman of Awka South LGA, Sir Leo Nwuba, flanked by guests.
