The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and appropriation has directed the Ministry of Youths Empowerment and Creative Economy to create more youth empowerment programmes to arrest youth restiveness.
The Committee gave the directive when key officers of the Ministry appeared before it for the assessment of their 2021 budget performance at the State House of Assembly.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports, that the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Obinna Emeneka expressed dissatisfaction over the poor performance of the Ministry from January till date.
He however asked the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Professor Theresa Obiekezie to initiate more programmes that could improve the State economy and engage more youths meaningfully before the end of this year.
In her remark, Professor Obiekezie gave an assurance that the Ministry will intensify efforts towards youth empowerment and revenue generation.
Similarly, the Committee directed the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ken Anierobi and key officers of the Ministry to intensify efforts in revenue generation to encourage rapid development of Anambra State.
On his part, Dr. Anierobi explained that his Ministry is working tirelessly to generate income for the State through license fees for hotels, restaurants, hospitality outfits across the State, among others.
