The National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, has flagged off enrollment exercise for persons under the Group, Individual and Family Social Health Insurance Programme, GIFSHIP, in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area.

 

The flag off ceremony, held at lgwe Gerald Mbamalu’s palace in Ojoto, had in attendance, some members of the National Assembly, the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Chinyere Aniebo, Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Honourable Don Unachukwu, President General of Ojoto community, Chief Donatus Anozie, and was performed by the Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Health Dr. Tanko Sununu.

 

Staff Reporter, Festus Obierika, reports that the programme is expected to provide healthcare services for over five hundred beneficiaries in ldemili North and South local Government Areas from the National Health Insurance Scheme accredited healthcare facilities across the State for two years.

 

In his remark, Dr. Sununu, represented by Honourable Benjamin Kalu, called on Nigerians to identify with the Scheme, as it will go a long way in assisting them, especially the less privileged, in accessing free medical treatment.

 

Addressing the gathering, the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Aniebo said over the years, the Scheme had carried out series of advocacy to the affluent in the country and in the diaspora to adopt and pay for the poor and vulnerable in the society, and thanked the Federal Government for releasing fund for the Scheme.

 

She commended Governor Obiano for his tireless efforts in ensuring soft landing for the Scheme in the State, and called on Ndi-Anambra to avail themselves of the opportunity.

 

Appreciating the team for the gesture, the Traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Mbamalu, promised to give all necessary supports, including providing accommodation, to enable the Scheme realize set goals.
