The caretaker committee for Nkwelle Ezunaka Town Union has been formally inaugurated at Nkwelle Ezunaka Town Hall, Oyi Local Government Area.

The committee has Ogbuefi Wilfred Okafor-Ugonwenyi as its chairman, Ogbuefi Chukwunonso Izuchukwu, first vice chairman, Mr. Vitalis Nwakobi, second vice chairman and Honourable Chris Onwuanyi as the secretary.

Others are the financial secretary, Mr. Orafu Anyakorah, Chief Pius Okeke, treasurer and Mr. Emeka Ajulu, PRO.

Mr. Emeka Onubuogu and Obinna Omejieke are provost one and two respectively.

In his speech, the Parish Priest, Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church Umudioka, Very Reverend Father Emmanuel Obimma said no society can record any meaningful development with bad leadership, disclosing that the town has been politically stagnant for years now but the new executive marked the beginning of a new dawn.

Reverend Father Obimma, who is also the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, charged the new executive to be loyal to the government of the day, forgive those, who wronged them and solicit for the cooperation of all to enable them to succeed.

Father Obimma, an indigene of the town, who was also installed as the Spiritual Father and leader of Nkwelle Ezunaka, asked God to equip the new executive with wisdom to pilot the affairs of the community.

In his speech, Ogbuefi Okafor-Ugonwaenyi listed some of his achievements especially in the area of security and thanked Anambra State Government for its timely intervention in the crisis that bedeviled the community saying that it restored peace among the people.

While explaining that Reverend Father Obimma was chosen for the position of the town’s Spiritual Father because of his numerous scholarship schemes and empowerment programmes for Nkwelle Ezunaka children and youths, Ogbuefi Okafor-Ugonwaenyi called on all to contribute their quota towards the development of the town.

Speaking to the ABS, a-two-time former President General of the town, Elder Chris Eluemunoh tasked the new executive on peace restoration as well as to prepare the community for election after the state’s gubernatorial election in November.

The chairman, inauguration committee, Barrister Chris Onwuanyi, who commended Governor Willie Obiano for his numerous achievements in the state, thanked all sections of the town for their support.

The chairman, Nkwelle Ezunaka Youths Association, Chief Onyeka Ikem lamented the leadership lacuna in the town which according to him deprived them of many benefits from government including the recent cars to traditional rulers, expecting that the new executive will address such issues.

The speaker of red cap chiefs in the town, Chief Luke Okafor wants Nkwelle Ezunaka to be among progressive towns in Anambra State while Mr. Ubachukwu Okoli from Progressive Estate pleaded with the new executive to look into re-selling of lands already bought by a developer by youths of the community because according to him, it causes breach of peace and scares investors.
