Sabbath youths in Nigeria have called on the Federal Government to stop linking them with any agitation group due to their attires, saying that Sabbath has been existing from the creation.
The group made the call during their youth combined service and thanksgiving held at the Light of Christ Sabbath Mission Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area Anambra State, during which they honored founding fathers of Sabbath Churches.
They also appealed to the Government to consider the rights of over seven million members across Nigeria by not fixing elections and examinations on Saturdays, which they said is their day of worship, and cited Exodus twenty verse eight, which says “remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy”
In a sermon titled “Gratitude to God”, Apostle James Owen enumerated reasons for thanking God, which include His benevolence, mercy, healing, deliverance and for renewing His people, and reminded the youths of the plan of the devil, which is to destroy, adding God has always frustrate such plan.
While appreciating the group, the General Overseer of the Light of Christ Sabbath Mission Nnewi, Reverend Lucky Ufondu, thanked God for saving his life from Corona virus pandemic in the United States of America, and lamented the high level of crime and criminalities across the world, which he attributed to economic crises.
The Sabbath youths later had interactive session, where professionals in different from all walks of life exchanged knowledge on ways of empowering youths.
Speakers like Engineer Emeka Okeke, Prince Nnamso Nwafor-orizu, Architect Ifeanyi Ivoke, Nonso Onyeagba and Joshua Ikegwuonwu challenged youths to be creative, believe in God and have self-confidence.
