A four day Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Examiner’s Workshop 2021 has commenced in Awka.
The workshop which has its theme as “Enhancing Professional Nursing and Midwifery Examination Outcomes through Educator-Clinician Synergy” drew participants from all the States of the federation.
Correspondent, Njideka Okoye who covered the event reports that while declaring the workshop opened, Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Anambra state Commissioner for Health Dr. Vincent Okpala through the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr Nwabueze Nwankwo, reassured the State governments’ commitment towards enhancing efficient and effective health care service delivery across the state and thanked the Council for choosing Anambra for the event and described a well-trained nurse as a gift to the society.
Presenting an address at the event, the Secretary General and Registrar of the Council, Dr. Faruq-Umar Abubakar represented by the Director, Nursing and Head Education Department, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Abuja, Mrs Margaret Eze, thanked Anambra state for hosting the workshop which she said is going on concurrently at Delta and Niger states respectively to minimize crowd, due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Director of Nursing Services Anambra state, Mrs Perpetual Anene who welcomed the participants stressed the need for enhanced collaboration between the educators and clinicians.
Delivering a keynote lecture, a former Board Member, Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr Anthonia Chinwuba said that successful outcome of examination depends on how educators and clinicians work together, and emphasised the need for Synergy between the two.
Songs by students of College of Nursing Sciences, Saint Charles Borromeo Onitsha and cultural dance by students of College of Nursing Sciences, Saint Joseph’s Hospital Adazi-Nnukwu featured at the workshop.
