More stakeholders have continued to commend Anambra State’s steady march to greatness since creation thirty years ago.
According to them, inspite of obvious challenges over the years, the State has emerged stronger and more formidable.
In his reaction, the National Chairman, Anambra for Soludo, Chief Jude Emecheta, said since creation of the State, successive administrations have made remarkable inputs in various sectors to uplift it to a pride of place through different initiatives and interventions, while APGA Governments brought a new dawn and redefined good governance, which he said have repositioned the State for sustainable development.
Chief Emecheta pointed out that in addition to his pillars of development and the enablers, Governor Willie Obiano brought a new approach towards human capital development, and effectively equipped the youths to drive the future of the State, while his legacy projects, including the Cargo and Passenger Airport project at Umueri, International Conference Centre and Stadium projects in Awka, would not only expand socio-economic activities, but will equally boost local and international tourism.
He noted that these achievements have provided the necessary springboard and platform for APGA to cruise to victory in the coming election, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to remain firm and objective in conducting the Anambra governorship election, so as to meet expectations of the people and international standard.
Chief Emecheta, who explained that all over the world, strong institutions build and drive democracy, urged INEC to remain an unbiased umpire by being guided by the Electoral Act and Constitution of Nigeria, and not allowing itself to be tele-guided by external forces in any form or guise, noting that people of the State are ready to ensure that their mandate is not compromised in the coming election.
He noted that by restoring Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s name as the Governorship candidate of APGA in the coming election, INEC has restored people’s confidence in the system and provided hope for a responsive Government; capable of consolidating achievements already on ground.
Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Innocent Asogwa, said Anambra State has a lot to celebrate after thirty years of existence, as it has remained a reference point in the country despite obvious challenges, while a teacher, Mr Justin Chukwuka, commended the growth and transformation of the Education sector
