Arrangements have been concluded for the honouring of Education builders and torch bearers in Anambra State. During the event, the Anambra State Education family will also showcase Governor Willie Obiano’s exploits in the education sector. The exploits resulted from the collaboration between the Government and well-meaning citizens.
The action-packed-event, tagged, “A Day With Education Builders”, is designed to appreciate those who contributed in one way or the other for the fulfillment of Governor Obiano’s promise of giving value-based and globally competitive education to Umuakwukwo Ndi Anambra.
Governor Obiano’s coordinated approach to education from three points thrust, namely: infrastructure, pupils/students’ welfare as well as teachers’ welfare, complemented by the activities of these education builders, set the stage for the numerous achievements recorded in the Education sector. Others are the governor’s mandate to the Education sector to ensure that the learning needs of all are met.
What is leadership, if one could not influence? There is no doubt that the governor’s passion influenced these education builders’ supports, resulting in the superlative performance of the administration in education.
The education builders to be appreciated at the event include philanthropists and Parents Teachers Associations among others. They contributed immensely to the nurturing of Umuakwukwo Ndi Anambra, most of who have today become our eagles and our pride.
A flash back would remind one of the exploits of the Regina Pacis Golden Girls of the Technovation Pitching Challenge; the Saint John’s Science and Technical College, Alor Bronze Boys of the Tunisia International Festival of Science and Technology as well as the Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha, global winners of the University of Delaware Diamond Challenge Global Summit. Others are the Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje, Nigeria’s representative at the International Chemistry Olympiad and the GTC, Nkpor, which took the overall best position in the National Global School Entrepreneurship competition.
In debate, team Anambra defeated the Katong Convent School, Singapore. Anambra students were among the teams that represented Nigeria in the Indonesia World Schools debate. Team Nigeria defeated Barbados 3 – 1 in the preliminaries of the competition. What more can prove the assertion that Governor Obiano has fulfilled his promise of giving Umuakwukwo Ndi Anambra education that is globally competitive.
Among the major features of the event, holding on Thursday, September 2, 2021, is the celebration of these torch bearers of Anambra State. The highpoint will be the appreciation of the individuals and organizations who, in one way or the other, contributed in maintaining Anambra State’s premier position in education.
This is in line with our adage that says, (E too dike na nke o mere, O mee ozo). The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, therefore invites ndi Anambra to join the Education family in celebrating these torch bearers and education icons of our time.
The event, holding at the Hollywood Event Center, near Government House, Awka, will afford the Education stakeholders and entire ndi Anambra the opportunity to witness the outcome of Governor Obiano’s passion for education. Ndi Anambra are enjoined to avail themselves of the unique opportunity presented by this event to brainstorm on how best to sustain or even surpass the State’s enviable position in education.
A panel discussion will also feature at the event, during which Umuakwukwo Ndi Anambra will present to the audience their positions on the Anambra State of their dream.
