The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA says it has within the past week, continued its war against illicit drug trade across the Nation.

 

A statement signed by the Director Media and Advocacy (NDLEA) Mr. Femi Babafemi said the agency had seized over twenty-four thousand, three hundred and eleven kilogrammes of heroin, codeine as well as Arizona and Colorado variants of cannabis in fresh drug busts at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja and the Tincan seaport, Apapa, Lagos state.

 

He noted, that at the SAHCO export shed of the MMIA, two consignments containing ten thousand, three hundred and fifty kilogrammes of heroin and twenty-five point two kilogrammes of cannabis from South Africa were intercepted followed by a series of sting operations in different parts of Lagos, which led to the arrest of four suspects including Mrs. Bello Kafayat Ayo, who was picked from Shino Street, Palm groove area of the state.

 

According to him, narcotic officers intercepted a forty feet container loaded with twenty-two thousand, five hundred and ninety kilograms of Barcadin Codeine syrup following intelligence received from international partners on the container since May 2021 at the Tincan seaport, Apapa.

 

Also, a consignment of Colorado weighing seventeen point five kilogrammes and hidden inside a Grand Caravan Dodge vehicle shipped in a forty feet container from Montreal, Canada, was also intercepted and seized at the Tincan port.
