Over two hundred elderly persons have benefitted from a medical outreach programme organized by Liberal Youth Development Association, Ideani in ldemili Council Area.

 

The exercise, held at Ideani Central School, was aimed at alleviating the plights of the elderly, especially improving their health status.

 

Correspondent, Odinaka Nwolisa, reports that the outreach programme featured free checkups,  free lab test, treatment and gifting of provisions to the sick and the elderly in the community.

Addressing the beneficiaries while flagging off the maiden outreach programme, an Executive member of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Chief Ugochukwu Onyekwelu, noted that health is wealth, adding that the human-oriented and sustainable initiative will not only add value, but remain a testimony for posterity in the community.

 

He encouraged individuals to partner with the Government in prioritizing qualitative healthcare delivery at the grassroot, urging other communities to join in championing a course for the poorest of the poor and saving lives.

In his remark, the sponsor of the programme, Mr Izuchukwu Enenwa, represented by Dr. Nnamdi Enenwa, said the outreach was motivated by the passion and willingness to give back to the society, and pledged continuity.

 

Contributing, an indigenous medical personnel, Dr. Don Okafor, who spoke on behalf of medical team for the event, described the idea as a welcome development, and appreciated the association for keeping faith with the welfare of rural dwellers.

 

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs Kate Okafor, Joy Ugoye, as well as Chief Eugene Agwubilo, expressed joy over the gesture, and prayed God to bless the youths for championing the course of the elderly in the community.
