The Dr Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, over the weekend, went agog as the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA faithful from within and outside the state converged for the official inauguration of the November sixth governorship election campaign.
Also, different groups, including People Living With Disabilities, transporters, traders, students, youths among others joined the band wagon, declaring their support for APGA flag bearer, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.
Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that the APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye officially handed over the party’s flag to Professor Soludo and Dr Ibezim before members of APGA Board of Trustees, the traditional rulers, and millions of Ndi Anambra.
APGA critical stakeholders, including Senator Victor Umeh and the member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Honourable Chinedu Obidigwe addressed the gathering using the scorecard of the party assuring that Professor Soludo will consolidate on the achievements of Governor Willie Obiano, whom they said has written his name in Gold with regards to history of Anambra state given his remarkable achievements across all sectors of the economy.
The convener of Anambra Demand Soludo, Chief Jude Emecheta, who enjoined the party faithful to intensify effort towards mobilizing voters especially at the ward levels, expressed hope of a landslide victory for APGA on November sixth poll.
The member, representing Onitsha North Constituency Two at the state Assembly, Honourabl Edward Ibuzor, whom was rumored to have decamped from APGA also appeared in person to declare his support for Soludo and loyalty to APGA.
Professor Soludo after receiving the flag thanked the party for the opportunity and expressed readiness to hit the ground running with the implementation of the already worked out plan for a more prosperous and progressive Anambra.
He later presented his manifesto, which he described as his contract with Ndi Anambra adding that Anambra State should hold him accountable if he fails to meet his campaign promises.
For the Assistant Welfare Officer of APGA, Chief Felix Obinadike the overwhelming crowd that trooped out in support of APGA and its candidates is a clear evidence that APGA will emerge victorious.
The gathering was entertained by Anambra born musician, Flavour, and Nollywood artists Yul Edochie, Zubby Michael and Mr. Real among others.
