Ndi Inyom Umuawulu were beautifully adorned in their uniforms, while the crowd was entertained with colorful displays from different groups that came to pay homage to the traditional ruler.

Igwe Egwuonwu, while performing the ceremonial cutting of new yam, thanked God for His presence, which he said resulted in the peace being experienced in the community, praying for more progress and long life for the members of the community.

Igwe Egwuonwu used the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the State government in ensuring that there is security in Anambra.

In his remark, a member of Igwe’s Cabinet, Chief Azubuike Ekweozor, noted that yam is celebrated because it is considered in Igbo land as the king of all crops, which also symbolises wealth and affluence, and prayed God to sustain the peace being experienced in Umuawulu community.

The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, who was represented by Sir Clem Nwafor, extolled the relationship existing between his community and Umuawulu, calling on the people to always support their traditional ruler in order to foster peace and development in their communities.
