The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has urged the State Traditional Rulers to support efforts  towards entrenching good governance in the state.

 

Speaking to the Traditional Rulers under the auspices of Anambra Traditional Rulers Council  at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka , the Governor asked them  to encourage communities to place the collective welfare of the state above every other consideration.

 

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that according to the Governor  his major aim of assembling the monarchs was to appreciate them, having worked well with his administration, pleaded with them to endorse and support a credible candidate with vision and experience to meet expectations of people.

While presenting the APGA candidate to them, Governor Obiano noted that APGA administration did well under Peter Obi, as well as his government and said that Professor Soludo will do better when he assumes office, because he performed excellently well managing the Nigerian economy and equally has the reach and contacts that will enable him to attract developments into the state.

 

Governor Obiano called on them to join voices in countering the sit-at-home order to protect the state economy and and recalled that under his watch, Anambra has passed through two recessions and his administration was  still able to do so much with little, assuring that Professor Soludo will do better than him.

While describing the traditional rulers as people at the helm of affairs at the communities, Professor Soludo canvassed the need for very strong collaboration  between the monarchs and the government and  assured that he will build on the foundation  laid by Governor Obiano to further enhance the socio-economic development of the state.

 

On his part, the former senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Chief Victor Umeh said that he has been in APGA from day one, and that former Governor Peter Obi did not have any legacy project because of the dire condition Anambra found itself during his time as well as unfortunate circumstances surrounding his administration and assured that Professor Soludo will perform better than Governor Obiano if given the mandate.

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Rulers, the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka said that under Governor Obiano’s watch, Anambra traditional rulers enjoyed a good working relationship.

 

The Chairman of South East Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha, the State Chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, among others were present at the event.

Equally at the meeting, governor Obiano’s success stories were projected on the screen for the viewing pleasure of the traditional rulers.
