The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba has asked journalists to use their professional privileges to root out desperate politicians and sponsors of violence in the state.

Mr. Adinuba stated this at a one-day sensitization workshop organized by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, for media executives and broadcast houses in Anambra State.

Correspondent Daniel Ezeigwe reports that the aim of the workshop, according to the commission, was to equip participants with the right guidelines for political broadcast and also help them adjust to the legal frameworks guiding election reportage.

In a goodwill message, Mr. Adinuba, said that broadcasters owe it to conscience and professionalism to report the truth and should not keep silent in the name of neutrality while desperate individuals chase their political goals at all costs.

The Commissioner, who regretted the crooked ambition of few people to destabilize the comparative peace that had been witnessed in Anambra State over the last seven years, called for collective efforts to expose those, who want to ride to power on the back of chaos.

Mr. Adinuba, who said that the Anambra State governorship position is not a reward for violence, also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure that whatever changes it is bringing down to the Anambra election do not compromise the sanctity of the process.
