The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has charged the management of Transportation Company of Anambra State, TRACAS, to think outside the box to generate more revenue for Anambra State Government to fasttrack the development of the state.

 

The committee gave the directive in a meeting they had with key officials of the company at the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex, Awka.

 

The chairman of the committee, Honourable Obinna Emeneka after assessing the performance of the corporate organization with respect to their 2021 budget, observed that they did not meet the expectations of the committee in terms of revenue generation.

He, however, commended the Managing Director of TRACAS, Dr. Ifeoma Madukasi for reviving the company within few years she has piloted the Affairs of the establishment and charged her and her team to intensify more efforts to generate more revenue for Anambra State Government.

 

Responding, Dr. Madukasi explained that the state government established TRACAS to ease the sufferings of the people and the company is determine to serve the purpose.

 

She, however, listed insufficient vehicles, COVID-19 pandemic and incessant sit-at-home directive of the Indigenous People of Biafra as factors hindering the progress of the company.

 

Dr. Madukasi also appealed to the State Government to release more funds to them to purchase more transloading vehicles, towing vans amongst others to enable the company achieve more result.
