Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College of Medicine, COOUCOM, has held its seventh induction ceremony for ninety-one new graduands of the institution.

The graduands are specialists in different medical fields including, Surgery, Anatomy, Pathology and Radiography among others.

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that the event, held at the Pathology Auditorium, COOUTH, Amaku, Awka, witnessed the official swearing-in of the graduands, carried out by the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr TAB Sanusi.

Addressing the inductees, the Vice Chancellor, COOU, Professor Greg Nwakobi while congratulating the inductees, reminded them that their conduct, actions and practice help to determine the rating, the society accords their alma mater and charged them to remain good ambassadors of the college.

In a lecture, an Emeritus Professor, Obiora Mbonu advised the graduands to always uphold the integrity of the medical profession as the day marks the end of a phase and a new beginning of a long journey into medical profession.

Some of the inductees, including Dr Chukwuka Ikeako, who emerged the overall best graduating student and Dr Francis Azifuaku, viewed the medical profession as a calling and assured greater commitment to the service of humanity.

The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Josephat Akabuike and the Provost, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College of Medicine, Professor Emmanuel Ojiyi in their remarks explained that the inductees are well certified both in character and learning to meet the demands of international standard with regards to medical practice and charged them to stick to the ethics of the profession.

The event attracted host of dignitaries from across board including the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, Anambra State chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, traditional rulers, parents among others.
