Governor Willie Obiano says Anambra November Governorship election will hold, contrary to fear of postponement.
Governor Obiano stated this at the second day of the APGA local government campaign tour at Onitsha North and South Council areas.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that according to Governor Obiano, he visited President Mohammadu Buhari where he received commitment that the election will be free and fair without interference.
He called on ndi Anambra to continue to mobilize themselves for the APGA candidate, who he said will continue from where he stopped.
Aldo speaking, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uchenna Okafor thanked the people for the support they have been giving the party and recalled the achievements recorded by the present government and noted that as people in government, they are in a position to give information about the workings of government, assuring that the APGA candidate will consolidate on the gains recorded by Governor Obiano’s administration.
The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Professor Chukwuma Soludo noted that APGA is a rebirth of the Igbo spirit with its cock brand of NCNC party of the old.
Professor Soludo reiterated that APGA is entrenched in Anambra state, assuring ndi Anambra that nobody will stop them from voting as there will be restriction of movement on election day, because polling units are trekkeable distance.
He assured that his regime will continue where the governor stopped, working with his manifesto and revealed that his urban renewal program will start from Onitsha through infrastructural development and improved electricity, among others.
While stating that he will liase with the federal government to build the Inland Dryport in Onitsha, he said that he has a plan of five billion naira venture capital fund to give atleast one thousand youths, annually, anti-touting program, training program for traders and apprentices to teach them current trends in doing businesses, among others.
Also speaking, the APGA Campaign Director, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu who stated that Onitsha is known for trading, said that the Soludo manifesto has enough packages for them, just as the member representing Anambra East and West Federal Comstituency, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe cautioned against working against the party in power, for consolidation sake.
Others who spoke at the areas visited including the Transition Committee Chairman for Onitsha North Honourable Patrick Ahamba, his Onitsha South counterpart, Mr Emeka Asonya , member representing Onitsha South one constituency, Mr. Uzoma Eli and his Onitsha South Two conterpart, Hon. Beverly Ikpeazu as well as Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Nnamdi Onukwuba and member representing Onitsha North, Hon. Eddy Ibuzo, assured of dessiminating the APGA message for mobilization of votes.
