Over one thousand persons from Anaocha and Aguata Local Government Areas have benefitted from the humanitarian support of the wife of Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, as she continued her tour of the twenty-one Local Government Areas of the State.

The Governor’s Wife, who embarked on the tour alongside wife of the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in next month’s governorship election, Mrs Nonye Soludo, said she defied the current security situation to go on the visit because of her undying passion for the poor, who she said have looked forward to her support in each of the last seven years.

Correspondent Daniel Ezeigwe reports that the over one thousand beneficiaries include poor widows, less privileged children, aged people and those with disabilities, drawn from the twenty-four towns in the two council areas.

Addressing the people, Dr Obiano said the interest of the people of Anambra State is dear her, and that it was out of deep passion that she has always remained committed to helping the needy.

While stating that she expected the wife of the next Governor of Anambra State to continue from where she would stop, Dr Obiano urged Anambra electorate, especially women, to vote for APGA in next month’s election as according to her, the party and its candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, are  better assurance for a better Anambra State.

She reassured the indigent people in the State that she is never going to abandon them as her NGO, CAFÉ, would still be present in Anambra State after her husband leaves office.

On her part, Mrs Nonye Soludo disclosed that knowing the immense role of women is societal development, her husband, Professor Soludo, allotted page forty-five of his manifesto to what his administration would hold for women.

While noting that the only way for the future of the children to be protected is for mothers to vote for the right person, Mrs Soludo asked women to insist on her husband, Professor Soludo and his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as the political group that represents the interest of the common people and Igbo people at large.

The member representing Aguta Constituency Two at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Okechukwu Okoye, and the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, praised the consistency and impact of Dr  Obiano’s humanitarian programs, noting that her charity organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, will stick to the heart of the poor forever.

In their remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Eche Ezeibe, and his Anaocha counterpart, Mr Patrick Onyedum, said that the tour has remained one of the most significant activities of the present administration, insisting that its direct grassroots touch redefined the concept of practical charity.

Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs Commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue, her Health counterpart, Dr Vincent Okpala, and the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Liaison, Barrister Vera-Queen Okonkwo were present at the tour, which continues at Onitsha North and South today.
