The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor has assured that the 2022 Anambra State Appropriation Bill of one hundred and forty-one point nine billion naira will be given expeditious passage by the house.

Right Honourable Okafor gave the assurance during the presentation of the 2022 Draft Estate to the House by Governor Willie Obiano.

House of Assembly Correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that while commending the governor for the timely presentation of the 2022 budget, the Speaker said the House is duty bound to painstakingly look at the Appropriation Bill and come up with a legal framework that will satisfy the intent of the government and the development expectations of Ndi Anambra.

He revealed that the House has already scrutinized the 2022-2024 multiyear budget framework, fiscal strategy paper and budget policy statement document and has approved it after necessary adjustments.

Right Honourable Okafor called on politicians in the state irrespective of their party affiliations to join hands with the governor in moving the state forward, even as he urged the people to pray fervently for the peaceful conduct of the November sixth governorship election in the state.

The 2022 Appropriation Bill later scaled the first reading after the Speaker read it out to the lawmakers, who supported through a voice vote.

On his part, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Obinna Emeneka called on government ministries to get ready for the budget defense, which according to him, will commence very soon.

Later in an interview, the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Honourable Emma Nwafor, commended the giant strides Governor Obiano recorded in office, especially the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, stressing that the twenty-three billion naira allocated to works and road infrastructure in the 2022 budget will ensure speedy completion of the airport and other projects in the state.
