A popular Nigerian Musician, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face Idibia or 2Baba, has called on Ndi Anambra, especially youths, to embrace peace and participate actively in November sixth governorship election for enthronement of good governance in the State.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo, reports that the Nigerian Afro pop artist, who has over seventy awards to his name, made the call in a meeting with Anambra youth leaders at Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area.

 

2Face Idibia, who is the founder of a non – governmental organization, “Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War”, maintained that election is not fight, calling on contestants in the exercise to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and not to indulge in any act capable of causing bloodshed.

On his part, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Eworo, represented by the Officer in Charge of Operations, Mr. Emma Ogbuanya, assured Ndi Anambra of adequate security on the election day, as according to him, the Police and other security agencies are already prepared for the exercise, warning anybody with intent to induce violence on the election day to have a rethink.

 

Contributing, the INEC Head of Voter Education and Publicity Unit, Mr. Okwuchukwu Ani, said the Commission has concluded efforts at ensuring a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the November election.

 

On his part, the Executive Director, Catch Them Young Community Initiative, Mr. Nonso Orakwe, observed that peaceful and credible elections confer legitimacy on elected officials; and are essential for democracy to thrive.

For the Deputy Director of Planning, Research and Strategy, Anambra State National Orientation Agency, Mr. Felix Agbu, there is need for people of the State to get their Permanent Voter’s Card and use it wisely during the November election, even as he encouraged the youth leaders to embark on sensitization campaign in their various areas.

 

The event tagged, “Youth Consultative Meeting with 2Baba Idibia in Anambra State”, had in attendance; youth leaders from religious and other organizations across the State.

 

“Vote Not Fight; Election No Be War” is a platform launched by the Nigerian Afro pop lord in 2014; with the aim of enlightening Nigerians on the need to actively participate in elections and shun electoral violence.
