Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has commiserated with victims of the unfortunate fire incident  at Nkwo Ogbe Market, Ihiala Council Area of the state.
The market was almost completely burnt down just as the ABS crew  observed that it was mainly built with highly inflammable materials including   plywood while the traders deal in general wares such as electronics, clothes, perishable goods and food items, among others.
The Governor visited the scene in company of the Deputy Speaker, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, member representing Ihiala constituency One at the state House of Assembly, Mr. Chudi Udemmadu, Commissioner for Information, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, his Trade and Commerce counterpart, Mr. Uchenna Okafor as well as the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, while the state fire Chief, Mr. Martin Agbili, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Eworo among others were on ground to recieve the them.
At the scene, Governor Obiano set up a special committee to be headed by Mrs. Joy Ulasi to investigate the disaster.
Other members of the panel include Deputy Speaker, Dr. Paschal Adbodike, Member representing Ihiala Constituency One at the State House of Assembly Mr. Chudi Udemmadu, Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, Special Adviser to the Governor on Creative Security, retired Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi, Anambra State Fire Chief, Mr. Martin Agbili, Nkwo Ogbe Market Chairman, Mr. Cyril Onyedibe as well as the  Officer in charge of Police Area Command.
Governor Obiano tasked the Committee members to find out the remote and immediate causes of the incident and make recommendations to the government within a month, assuring that a fire truck will be stationed at the market to forestall such occurrence in the future and asked  the market leadership to identify where the truck will be permanently positioned as well as  help to  protect it.
He directed the committee members to ascertain how many shops were affected and suggest how best government can help those affected.
Commenting on the incident , the State Fire Chief, Mr. Martin Agbili said that they recieved a distress call at about one o’clock in the morning, through the Divisional Police Officer in Ihiala about the fire outbreak and immediately mobilized fire fighting equipment from Nnewi, being the closest fire station to the area, explaining that by the time they arrives, the fire had already advanced.
Chairman of Nkwogbe Market, Mr. Cyril Onyedibe, whose business of provision was also razed, explained that if not for the rain and eventual intervention of the the state fire service, the inferno would have  further spread into other areas and appreciated the governor for coming to have first hand knowledge of the incident.
Recall that during the early hours of  last  Sunday, goods and property worth millions of naira  were destroyed by fire at the Nkwogbe Market Ihiala Local Government Area, though no life was lost.
