A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned hearing the case of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to tenth November, 2021.
Mazi Kanu, who had been re-arraigned before the Justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court in Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the amended seven-count charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.
The court also refused application for his transfer to Kuje Correctional center based on security.
Addressing journalists, Kanu’s counsel, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, explained that the refusal for the transfer was mainly to safeguard his client.
He said his client had pleaded not guilty because he was innocent of all the allegations leveled against him by the Federal Government.
A former governor of Anambra state, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who had expressed displeasure over the refusal of security operatives to allow his entourage into the High Court premises, said Anambra election will hold, adding that it will be peaceful, free and fair.
Operatives of the Department of State Services, refused to allow journalists entry into the courtroom even though six Journalists were initially cleared at the main gate of the court to enter the premises.
The operatives insisted their action was based on order from above that no Journalists would be allowed to enter the courtroom till the end of the proceedings.
