A Non-Governmental organization, Anambra West Liberation Front has called on their people to rise and take full responsibility of their political and socio-economic development.
The Chairman of the organization, Chief Edochie Onuorah made the call during a World Press Conference at Umueze Anam.
Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that while addressing the Media, Chief Onuorah who noted that the Local Government Area had not witnessed much development as they expected, said they are not blaming anyone in particular for their plights, but have resolved to checkmate Political gladiators who joined politics for private and individual benefits, at the expense of their people.
According to him, the people of Anambra West Local Government Area have unanimously agreed to demand good leadership and accountability from every leader from the Community to the national levels.
He called on the citizens of the area to always participate in all civic responsibilities and demand for peace and progress of the Local Government Area in particular and Anambra State as a whole.
The Chairman called on the Federal government, in collaboration with the State government, to commence work on the abandoned Anam-Nzam-Ibaji federal highway which he noted received the sum of two hundred million naira in the 2021 Federal budget, but regretted that the year is almost coming to an end without any contractor on site.
He noted that the road will not only serve the people of the Local Government Area, but will also reduce travel time on road from Abuja to Anambra state as well as other South East States.
The Anambra West Liberation Front urged those representing them at the National Assembly and State House of Assembly, to be more responsive to the yearnings of the people by delivering more dividends of democracy to their constituents.
Earlier in a prayer, the traditional ruler of Ivite Anam, Igwe Sylvester Nnose who thanked the Organization for championing the course of the people of Anambra West Local Government Area prayed God to give them the grace to succeed in their humanitarian job.
Anambra West Liberation Front is made up of Umuoba Anam, Umueze Anam, Mmiata and Iyiora, Oroma Etiti Anam, Umudorah, Umuikwu and Umuenwelum Anam.
Others are, Nzam, Ukwalla, Inoma, Igbedor, Allah na Onugwah, Igbokenyi, Ode, Owelle and Odekpeh.
The Vice Chairman of the association, Chief Michael Okafor-Nwofia as well as Chief Peter Udeogala-Anekwe were among those that graced the event.
