The US Mission Nigeria, has warned Nigerians about scammers, who are using the Education USA name to extract payment for placement into Ivy League Colleges, through the “EducationUSA Ivy League Programme, saying that all the messages are fake.
A statement by the US Mission Nigeria media office, drew attention to what it termed fake targeted electronic emails and social media claiming to facilitate admission/placement to a non-existent Ivy League Programme.
The statement warned that fraudsters begin by soliciting membership fees and then seek to increase contact.
It clarified that EducationUSA services are free to aspiring students and enjoined applicants not to pay money to anyone asking for fees.
The statement stressed that US Embassy in Abuja and Consulate in Lagos are warning Nigerians not to fall victim to the scam giving the official source for information on EducationUSA on www.educationusa.state.gov.
