Management and Staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Awka, were in  a pensive mood, as they held  a candlelight procession in honour of two of their staff members, Late Mr. Sunday Nwankwo popularly known as Sunny and Mrs Stella Okoye, (Madam Salo) who recently passed away.

 

Since their demise , management, staff and interns of the establishment have been in a mourning mood, with an outpour of tributes to the deceased.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the procession commenced at exactly half passed ten o’clock in the morning from the ABS Film Academy building down to the gate, then back to the administrative block before retiring to Ezeudo Square.

A moment of silence was observed for the deceased with the raising of banners bearing the images of the deceased as well as sorrowful and solemn songs in their remembrance.

 

Tributes flowed freely from the sad looking staff.

 

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba who called in during the event, described death as a necessary end and condoled the ABS family and  families of the deceased.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABS, Dr. Uche Nworah, extolled the virtues of the deceased and urged other staff to emulate them.

 

The Director of programmes, Mrs Nneka Ekwunife, Amaka Obi, Messrs, Martin Okechi and Ngozi Obileri who could not hold back their tears eulogized the deceased.

 

Other staff including, Chibuzor Okoye, Mr. Ebuka Nwankwo, Mrs. Blessing Emegorako, among others, equally shared their experiences and moments with the deceased, praying God to grant their souls eternal rest.

The Director News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, a retired staff of the establishment, among other senior staff were  part of the event

 

Mrs Stella Okoye aka Madam Salo, was later immortalized as the ABS boss Dr Nworah named the ABS Film Academy after her, while Uchechukwu Ebonam performed a special rendition in honor of the deceased.
