Anambra State College of Health Technology Obosi has obtained full five years accreditation in Environmental Health Technology, Medical Imaging Technology and Health Information Management from National Board for Technical Education which qualifies the college graduands to participate in National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, from 2021 for the first time since inception of the institution in 1992.
Speaking to Journalists on the achievements recorded in the school under his watch, the Provost of the college, Dr. Robinson Mgbatogu, said through the approval of state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, the Governing Council, Management and Staff of the College, provisional two years accreditation was also obtained from Radiographers, Registration Board of Nigeria for the new department- Medical X-ray Technician Programme which was established in 2021 and Medical Laboratory Technician.
Dr. Mgbatogu said that in 2021,Governor Obiano gave approval for the employment of seventy-four critical permanent staff in addition to the existing ones to further boost the staff strength of the college bringing the total number of staff to one hundred and ninety-two noting that the school has zero tolerance for exam malpractice which resulted to improved performance of students as one hundred students passed with distinction for the first time in the College.
The provost stated that the College remains the choice of many as increasing number of candidates seeking admission into College of Health Technology in Nigeria is being recorded, attributing the success to the growing reputation of excellence which the college enjoys as well as the recent improved learning conditions, teaching aids, infrastructure and increased feeling of safety in the college.
Dr. Mgbatogu who further reeled out his numerous achievements through the back up from the state governor, disclosed that his tenure will soon elapsed and charged those who will take over from him to sustain the accreditation and development of the college to justify Governor Obiano’s huge investment in the only College of Health Technology in the state.
