The completion of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport by the Obiano administration would open up business opportunities and  exposed the potential inherent in the state to international communities.

 

This was the view of a cross section of Anambra stakeholders during the airport inauguration ceremony at Umueri, Anambra East Council Area.

 

Correspondent Ngozi Obileri  reports that  the inauguration ceremony attracted notable individuals within and outside Anambra State including the clergy, traditional rulers, captains of industry, women and youth groups as well as a Nollywood Actor, Chief Chiwetalu Agu, whose presence at the event thrilled many.

 

Reacting to the development, the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Uju Nworgu said the era of spending hours on the road when one travels out of Nigeria is gone since one can now book flights from the comfort of his or her home, and can get to the airport forty-five minutes before the departure time.

 

In his reaction,the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne said that the airport is the best thing that happen to Ndi Anambra as the fastest developing state in Nigeria with the biggest market in West Africa.

 

For the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Liaison, Barrister Queen-Vera Okonkwo, Governor Obiano has written his name on gold and history will be kind to him for giving Ndi Anambra what they have yearned for, thirty years.

 

The chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. David Nzekwu  noted that the airport has opened a very big revenue window for the state hence, more funds for the provision of democracy dividends to Ndi Anambra.

 

The immediate past commissioner for works, Chief Lawrence Chinwuba, rated the airport as one of the best in terms of quality, and applauded Governor Obiano for achieving the fit in fifteen months.
