The death of a-thirty-seven-year old only son five days after his traditional marriage, and one week to his wedding, will remain one of the most heartbreaking stories ever told.
Mr Sunday Nwankwo, staff of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, who hails from Obegu Amegu Village, Ndufu Echara, in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, passed away on the sixteenth October, 2021, after a brief illness.
Correspondent Chibuzo Obidike reports that countless questions poured out on why a promising talented young man, who began his career from the scratch, rising to become one of the dedicated cameramen in the ABS, will be cut short.
Late Sunday Nwankwo, as attested to by friends and colleagues, was always full of life, humble, gifted and dedicated to his job and also showed love to everyone who came in contact with him.
According to his uncle, Mr Moses Nwankwo, ‘Sunny Bobo’, as he was fondly called, had plans of making his family proud as he lived a godly lifestyle and showed the zeal to maintain his family lineage when he took a new wife before his demise.
As expected, the ABS family went to Obegu Amagu Village in Ndufu Echara Community, to pay their last respect to a colleague who mastered the job, embraced love and humility through cheerfulness and diligent as attested by the Director of Programmes, Mrs Nneka Ekwunife, Ebele Ezeh of the News and Current Affairs Department and the Head of Television Unit, Mrs Ify Unachukwu.
In their condolence messages, some friends of the deceased, Mr Sunday Nwafor and Dr Ikechukwu Egwu all shared the happy moments and stories of an upright individual, who during his life time stayed away from troubles and remained determined in changing his family background, and prayed God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
The management and staff of the Anambra Broadcasting Service later held a prayer session at grave side.
