The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, his counterpart in the People’s Democratic Party, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, that of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba, Young Progressives Party, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah have signed a peace accord to guarantee peaceful election on Saturday.

 

The Signing of the peace accord is facilitated by the National Peace Committee.

 

Correspondent, David Okpokwasili reports that the event which has become a pre-election day ritual since 2015 by the Committee is to engender peaceful and violent free elections in the country.

 

The Candidate of the Action Alliance, Ben Etiaba that of APM, Geoffrey Onyejepu, their Zenith Labour Party counterpart, Dr Obiora Okonkwo and Social Development Party, Dr Obinna Uzoh were also part of the signing ceremony.

 

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the National Peace Committee and Nigeria’s Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar said with the violence that have been witnessed ahead of the election, signing of the peace Accord becomes imperative.

 

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Matthew Kukah reemphasized the importance of peaceful election and urged Ndi Anambra to go out and vote.

 

Present at the peace accord signing ceremony was the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and representatives of political parties, Civil Society Organizations and many others.
