The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has advised Ndị Anambra to come out on Saturday and cast their votes for candidates of their choice without fear of intimidation.
The Anambra State Chairman of the Council, Mr. Uche Ugwuoji, who made the call during a press briefing held in Awka, said voter apathy will only throw up a less legitimate government that will see the emergence of an unpopular candidate; who will become governor through minority vote.
The group asked major stakeholders in the election process to set aside individual interests and partisan politics and work towards achieving a free, fair and credible poll, noting that only a representative democracy powered by the people can guarantee a people-centered governance that will work for the betterment of the society, especially Anambra.
They also advised any aggrieved person against fomenting trouble, but to embrace peace and dialogue that will see to the good of majority of members of the society.
The group further asked the Nigerian Police to make provision for phone numbers members of the public can call when they see any security breach in their areas on election day.
IPAC expresses optimism that innovations introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, such as the Bimodal voter accreditation system and the electronic transmission of results, will help to ensure that the outcome will be a true reflection of the will of the people.
Correspondent, David Okpokwasili reports that IPAC is a body that unites all registered political parties in Nigeria, and that the Chairman, Mr. Ugwuoji was flanked by the National President of the Council, Dr Leonard Ezenwa and other members of the group during the briefing.
