The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, yesterday paid a pastoral visit to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Amikwo Awka.
Bishop Ezeokafor, who during the visit administered the Sacrament of Confirmation on two hundred and two adults and children faithful, also thanked God for a peaceful and successful Anambra State governorship poll.
Correspondent Ebele Ezeh reports that the event marked the second pastoral visit by Bishop Ezeokafor to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Amikwo Awka since its creation on September fifth 2011.
In his homily during a Pontifical High Mass to commemorate the visit, Bishop Ezeokafor asked Christians to always share their God’s given wealth selflessly with others, emphasizing that givers never lack.
While explaining that pastoral visit is aimed at ascertaining the state of the parish in question, Bishop Ezeokafor prayed God to bless the effort of every single Christian in His Vineyard.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Catch them young’ Bishop Ezeokafor charged the newly confirmed faithful to be responsible to themselves, their parents, the church and the society at large.
He frowned on the attitude of some present-day youths, who pay less attention to the things of God and urged parents to be more committed to all round development of their childrento have the full joy of parenthood.
The parish priest, Reverend Father Anthony Udogu, appealed to parents and sponsors of the newly confirmed faithful to ensure that their faith in God knows no bound.
Confirmation proper, swearing-in of members of the Holy Childhood Association of Nigeria, Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Amikwo Awka, by Bishop Ezeokafor as well as thanksgiving climaxed the pastoral visit.
