The Returning Officer for the Anambra Governorship election, Professor Florence Obi says collation of results for the Anambra Governorship election will resume on Tuesday ninth November, 2021 after a supplementary election in the 326 polling units in Ihiala Local Government Area.
She said there is a need for the election to hold in that area so that the people are not denied their civic rights and to give room for the winner to be declared successfully.
According to her, even though the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, polled the highest number of votes in the election, having polled one hundred and three thousand, nine hundred and forty six votes of the two hundred and thirty seven thousand, three hundred and sixty two votes cast in the election in twenty out of the twenty one Local Government Areas of the State, the results can only be declared after the election at Ihiala on Tuesday.
The Agent for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Senator Victor Umeh, thanked God for the seamless process and said they will get ready for the election on Tuesday so that the candidate can be declared.
For Mrs. Amaka Uzodinma of the Institute for peace, described the election as credible as there was no record of violence in any part of the state during the election.
She however, advised that some other places where there may not have been elections, should be included in the supplementary election so that no one is left out.
Some of the political party agents including the APC and PDP, declined signing the result sheets.
