The Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Chief Damian Okeke Ogene has commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of Anambra Governorship election last Saturday.

 

Speaking in Awka, Chief Okeke Ogene extolled the people of the state for their mature and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.

Chief Okeke Ogene noted that contrary to fears and apprehension expressed at the buildup of the election, the exercise eventually proofed to be one of the most peaceful and hitch -free elections conducted in the country which he observed is another testimony that people of the state can always live up to expectations when situation demands it.

 

He said the success of the election has brought a new dawn to the state and hope for brighter prospects and commended the INEC for living up to the expectations of the people in spite of obvious lapses including late arrival of ad hoc personnel and materials in some polling units and malfunction of some of the BVAS machines.

 

Chief Okeke Ogene  thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for keeping to his words of non-interference and commended the security agents for upholding professional conduct throughout the exercise as well as IPOB for listening to voice of reason and encouraging people to come out and vote enmass, noting that sustaining dialogue and political solution would end agitations across the country.

 

He reminded the incoming administration that people of the state have great expectations from it and urged the political class not to distract it from its mission. UP SOT
