Anambra Decides: Electorate Hail Ihiala Supplementary Election

The Anambra State governorship supplementary election organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ihiala Local Government Area has been adjudged peaceful by eligible voters who participated in the process.

ABS crew observed the process in some communities in the area including Mbosi, Okija and Amorka where security agents manned the different voting points and areas.

Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that at the areas monitored, sensitive and non-sensitive materials arrived late than ten o’clock in the morning earlier announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Mrs. Cathrine Nwaohama who spoke to the ABS at Ihiala said that at first, it was difficult for her to vote as the machine could not capture her finger print, but expressed happiness that she was later captured.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote, the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Ihiala Constituency Two, Dr Paschal Agbodike pointed out that the process was seamless just as he commended INEC for living up to its responsibility of conducting free and fair election.

After voting at Polling Unit 003, Amorka, the Member representing Ihiala Constituency One in the Anambra State House of Assembly Mr Chudi Udemmadu expressed disgust on their inability to vote last Saturday.

At Ihite Okija wards 003 and 017, the Managing Director, Forest Reservation and Clear Drainage and Forest Preservation Agency, Chief Chido Obidiegwu, lamented that INEC officials arrived their community late and complained that security operatives did not even get to their area to protect voters and thanked God that there were no other hitches, except for periodic malfunctioning of the Bimodal Voter Authentication System machine.
