Federal government has inaugurated a ten-year football development master plan committee to review previous football development plans,  that will fast track the development of football in Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development to reverse the decline and establish a sustainable framework for the revamping of football in the country which led to the formation of the committee for the development of a ten-year football master plan.
The master plan is to be a functional strategic vision which outlasts the current administration and firmly places Nigerian football on the path to sustainable growth.
Inaugurating the committee, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, said both the Federal Government, through the Sports Ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation are working together to ensure the development of football in Nigeria.
He reassured that the newly inaugurated Committee will work in tandem with the NFF to promote the programmes and policies of the  Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
According to him, the committee is a Presidential  assignment and the NFF are also working for the good of the game in Nigeria hence can be referred to as worthy partners in Sports Development in Nigeria.
Responding,  the Chairman of the Committee, Ibrahim Galadima,  pledge that they will do their best to ensure that government’s aim of setting up the board is achieved.
He expressed hope that government would apply recommendations of the committee unlike in the past where several efforts, recommendations and plans did not count.
