Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has encouraged Nigerian electorate not to sell their votes by giving in to inducements, no matter the offer to protect their future.
Governor Obiano was speaking during a special mass to celebrate the victory of Professor Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra State Governor-Elect at the just concluded 2021 Governorship election.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the mass which was held at the Governor’s Country home, Aguleri was celebrated by the Government House Chaplain, Reverend Father Patrick Okafor and other priests.
Speaking during the occasion, Governor Obiano took time to celebrate the Ukwulu woman who rejected financial inducement on the election day.
According to the Governor who thanked God for what he described as sweet victory, APGA is the biblical David who mobilized votes to defeat Goliath, stressing that the victory belongs to Ndi Anambra.
While stating that Professor Soludo knows what to do when he takes over the reigns of government, the Governor requested Ndi Anambra to assist the Governor-Elect to have a smooth operation.
In a homily, Reverend Father Anthony Chiegboka who spoke on the imperativeness of thanksgiving, thanked God for a peaceful election in Anambra state and recalled that weeks before it, there was palpable fear in the land because of pockets of violence.
Reverend Father Chiegboka said that the election has come and gone without violence, because Ndi Anambra left everything in the hands of God adding that, Catholic Bishops also called for nine days prayer.
Speaking to the ABS, the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne and his Health Counterpart, Dr. Vincent Okpala expressed confidence in Professor Soludo whom they said Anambra people have faith in him and urged him to work hard to justify the collective mandate given to him by Ndi Anambra.
For Chief Dan Ogbuefi, the victory is a win for Ndigbo, just as Barrister Chike Maduekwe congratulated the governor-elect and his Deputy for blazing the trail, describing it as a mandate given by God.
Members of the State Executive Council, State House of Assembly Members led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, the Governor-Elect, Professor Soludo, and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Senator Victor Umeh, among others, attended the mass.
Prayer, songs and special thanksgiving added glamour to the holy mass.
