The newly inaugurated Panel of Inquiry into the Nkwogbe Market Ihiala fire disaster has visited the market.

 

Addressing traders of the market and members of the community, the Chairperson of the Panel, Lady Joy Ulasi, who led other members to the site said their visit was to investigate the fire incident and proffer workable solutions to prevent future outbreaks in any market in Anambra State.

 

She recommended that the traders make known their plans on how Government can compensate affected members, and applauded ongoing works in the market by the traders, commending them for their resilience.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala local government area, Engineer Jude Obi, who welcomed the panel members to the market, recalled that Governor Willie Obiano had visited the site and also donated fire truck, urging them to carry out their duties diligently.

 

The Traditional ruler of Ihiala, Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu, represented by Ichie. Emmanuel Ifenatuoha thanked the Panel members and Governor Obiano for their timely and genuine interventions and concerns.

 

Barrister Chidi Udemadu, representing Ihiala One Constituency in the State House of Assembly, appreciated the Chairperson of the Panel, noting that their visit was in fulfilment of Governor’s promise on the eighteenth of October 2021 when he visited the site.

Other members of the panel were the Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, member representing Ihiala Constituency one at the State Assembly, Barrister Udemadu, Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Creative Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi, Anambra State Fire Chief, Engineer Martin Agbili, Nkwo Ogbe Market Chairman, Mr. Cyril Onyedibe, as well as the Police Commander in the area.
