The Knights of St John International, Commandery 434, and Laux 363, Awka, have celebrated their 2021 annual harvest and bazaar to thank God for a bountiful and merciful year at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.
The ceremony which began with holy mass, and tagged “harvest of divine praise,” was organized in thanksgiving to God for the lives of its members and the quick recovery of a prominent member, the traditional ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu.
Onyinye Agubaeze was there and reports that
in his address, the member representing Njikoka Two at the State House of Assembly and a member of the order, Honourable Pite Ibida, who said he was delighted at the event, noted the importance of giving back to God as a means of receiving more blessings.
Also the Chairman on the occasion, Sir Mulumbah Ikeh, said that the order decided to thank God for his faithfulness and mercies throughout the year as well as launch a bus for the convenience of it’s members.
In his words of appreciation, Igwe Gibson Nwosu represented by the Prime Minister, Chief Ben Okoye, thanked God for restoring his health and the order for the warm reception.
In their separate remarks the President of Order, Sir Ralph Nwike, the Chairman of the harvest committee, Sir Sunday Nweke, and the Secretary of the committee, Sir Basil Obiorah, commended the members for their support towards the growth of the order noting that the aim of the harvest and bazaar has been successfully carried out.
Earlier during a homily in a mass to mark event , the spiritual adviser knight of St John, Reverend Father Levi Ukor noted the importance of being committed to the practice of faith and urged Christians to always be thankful and not neglect the little miracles in their lives.
The event featured the launching of the bus, auction and cutting of cake.
