Anambra State Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies have commenced defense of their 2022 Appropriation Bill before the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka.

 

The exercise which is coordinated by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation alongside other committees of the House is held in the Conference Hall of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman House committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Obinna Emeneka explained that the meeting will enable the committee to scrutinize the 2022 budget estimate, identify and confirm that what the MDAs appropriated are actually the resources they required based on their previous performances.

 

He maintained that the exercise will enable the House to allocate resources wisely, since a well-planned budget is of utmost importance for any government to ensure economic stability and growth.

While defending the 2022 budget proposal of the Ministry of Public Utilities and Water Resources, the Commissioner for the Ministry, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Laz Okafor told the committee that they have prepared adequately for the incoming government and the Ministry will continue to complete all the projects that are domiciled within it.

 

On his part, the Chairman House committee on Public Utilities and Water Resources, Honourable Emma Nwafor expressed satisfaction with the budget performance of the ministry this year, assuring that his committee will partner them to realize their projected two point six billion for the year 2022.

The ministries of Housing, Urban Development, Trade and Commerce led by their commissioners also defended their 2022 budget estimate.
