The Special Enforcement Team of the Anambra State Ministry of Transport, in conjunction with Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Anambra Traffic Management Agency, and the Vehicle Inspection Office has embarked on a monitoring exercise aimed at apprehending all illegal revenue collectors within Onitsha Metropolis.

ABS Correspondent, Amarachukwu Okafor reports that the Special Enforcement Team was set up the Anambra State Government to put an end to illegal revenue collection and see to the affairs of Tax payment in the State.

Speaking on the exercise, the Commander of the Team, Mr Anthony Obieze said the exercise is to sensitize the people and to advise those engaging in illegal tax collection to desist forthwith.

Mr Obieze said defaulters will be charged to court for trial and will face the law if found guilty.

The Head of Enforcement Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Chike Okosi said the board of Internal Revenue has a stamped ticket which signifies the authorization of the State government.

While assuring Motorists that there is an end in sight for multiple taxation and levies, the Head, Joint Special Taskforce, Mr Obum Ibezim expressed optimism that  the exercise will yield positive results.

Some suspected illegal tax collectors were apprehended and arraigned in court.
