A business executive, Chief Michael Okafor-Nwofia has called on the federal government to intervene on the deplorable condition of some federal roads in the South-East geopolitical zone.

Chief Nwofia who made the call in Awka while speaking to Newsmen said though, few federal roads in the South-East have received government attention, a lot still needs to be done to save people of the zone from untold hardship.

Chief Nwofia, an indigene of Iyiora Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area regretted the hardship motorists, especially articulated vehicle Drivers experience on daily basis from Oji River in Enugu State to the Amansea axis of the Enugu-Onitsha express road.

He maintained that apart from the man-hour and enormous resources transporters lost in that axis of the road, it often times cause loss of lives and appealed to the federal government to direct the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to urgently commence palliative work on the road to alleviate the sufferings of the motoring public who make use of the area on daily basis.

Chief Nwofia also commended the Anambra State government for the palliative work it has done in some federal roads in the State, but noted that a lot still needs to be done on roads because of the number of vehicles that enter the State on daily basis.
