Advent in Christiandom is a season of the liturgical year observed in most Christian denominations as a time of waiting and preparations for both the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the second coming.

Advent has a period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas and prepares Christian’s heart and minds to Christ’ second coming.

Reacting to the significance of the day, the Parish Priest of Saint Michael Parish, Akwaeze, Reverend Father Boniface Obiefuna said that it is a period Christendom prepare the coming of Jesus Christ in commemoration of his coming into the world as a special gift to humanity.

Reverend Father Obiefuna said that the coming of Jesus Christ is an expectation when people of goodwill experience peace and extend same to others, lamenting that killings,  lack of respect for lives and taking hard drugs which he noted  is landing some people in psychiatric hospitals  have become the other of the day.

He therefore, called on all to expect the coming of Christ which brought salvation and should guild their personal lives as well as allow love to reign in their lives.

On his part, the Vicar, Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit, Venerable Rex Kanu said that advent is the new year of the church as Christ came to salvage the world having suffered for mankind in ensuring that all reconciled with God.

Venerable Kanu, noted that God has made heaven a good resting place for all which requires that all should live a righteous life, as the second coming of Christ is around the corner so as not to be found wanting.

He encouraged all to use this season to reconcile with their maker with faith and make Christ their pillar throughout their lives .
