Over one hundred widows in Nnokwa, Idemili South Council Area have received succour from Akachukwu Akonam Foundation, under the leadership of Engineer Simon Ukpaka.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the event, which took place at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Nnokwa saw the widows smile home with bags of rice, beans, garri and condiments.

While four of them were empowered with hair dressers and generator sets each, two went home with sewing machines, and about twenty- five of them received pieces of ‘‘abada’’ clothing materials.

 

Also, twenty-five of the widows received soft loans from Fidelity Bank during the event.

 

Speaking shortly after handing over the items to the widows, the founder of Akachukwu Akonam Foundation, Engineer Ukpaka expressed delight that some of the women are now self-reliant through the support of the foundation, and asked them to remain focused and always trust in God.

He thanked the wife of the State Governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano and others for their supports to the foundation and prayed God to bless them.

 

Contributing, the Coordinator of the Foundation, Pastor Walter Akachukwu encouraged the widows to continue to work hard, expressing hope that with the help of the organization, they will overcome poverty.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Elizabeth Nnabuenyi and Alice Ukatu said founders of the organization are God sent, who never get tired of supporting and caring for them no matter the economic situation of the country, and prayed God to reward all accordingly.
