Anambra State Government has charged Presidents General and traditional rulers of all the communities in the state, to step up efforts against unwanton destruction, stealing and looting of government infrastructures in their various domains.

A statement from the commissioner for Public Utilities, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne, mandated the community leaders, to deal decisively with those involved in theft of government property, adding that the community vigilante should be strengthened to be more proactive and sensitive to the states of these infrastructures.

The statement noted that infrastructures like street lights, generators, armoured cables, transformers and water borehole facilities were among those being destroyed or stolen.

Commissioner Ezenwanne further listed electric poles, solar panels, traffic light, water tanks, and pumps as some of the government infrastructures vandalized or made away with by criminals.

The commissioner reminded the presidents general and Ndi Igwe that further siting of government projects in their communities will be determined by the way they were able to sustain existing ones.
