The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, and Bishop, Diocese of Awka Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has laid a Foundation Stone for Renaissance Modern Polytechnic Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.
This is in line with the Diocesan quest to provide an Institution where moral values, home management will be inculcated in the young ones including present day mothers for better society.
Archbishop Ibezim while thanking the Parishioners of St Lawrence Anglican Church Mbaukwu for their assistance and support towards his vision of providing an Institution where character and talents will be moulded by providing the Archdiocese with a land for the project, said the foundation of the school is laid upon the foundation of Apostles, prophets and the Lord Jesus Christ.
He made it clear that there will be no room for an unbeliever in the Institution.
Most Reverend Ibezim noted that the idea of the Institution was first initiated by the women with the aim of inculcating good home management in women and raising Godly homes, pointing out that the major course in the Institution is Hospitality and Home Management.
He called on the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Okey Nwuche to be mindful of the caliber of students admitted in the school as the institution will not habour women of easy virtues, drug addicts and people with questionable character.
The Anambra State deputy governor elect, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while thanking the Parishioners of Saint Lawrence Anglican Church for their support, promised to make sure the Institution stand the test of time.
He expressed joy on the massive support and vote for APGA by people of Mbaukwu and called on Ndi Anambra to join hands together to build the State.
The Traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu Igwe Peter Anugwu appreciated the initiators of the project, describing it as one of the good things that has come to Mbaukwu and pledged his total support.
The Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha commended the plans for the Polytechnic
and promised them of State Government’s assistance in moving the Institution to the expected height.
Speaking in an interview, the Chairman Governing Council of the Polytechnic Professor Nkechi Ikedigwu and the Acting Rector Dr. Okey Nwuche affirmed their readiness to pilot the affairs of the Institution to the expected height.
The event featured, Foundation Stone laying, cutting of tape and oat of Allegiance by the Board members and Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
