Saint John Innovation Institute of Management and Technology, JIIMATECH, Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area has held her maiden product exhibition by its graduating students.
Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that the event which attracted the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano who was represented by the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs Mrs Ndidi Mezue, commenced with a pontifical high mass presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye assisted by host of other priests.
The Bishop in a homily pointed out that technological and vocational education is the way to go in order to help revitalize the Society and make it more productive and prosperous.
Most Reverend Okoye who was said to be founder and the director of the former Saint John Vocational Institute, in September 1999 also enjoined the graduating students to remain focused by continuously improving on their skills and never play with their spiritual life.
The Director of the Institution, Reverend Father Francis Michael Enyosiobi thanked the Obiano led administration and the wife of the governor Dr Ebelechukwu for their commitments that contributed to the tremendous achievements the school has recorded in the recent past.
He also appreciated the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye and the board members of the institution for their support and assured to continue putting his best to enable the school become one of the best within Nigeria.
In their separate remarks, the Chief Facilitator of the Programme, Dr Chiemelu Emegoakor and the Works Chairman and a member of the school board, Chief Paul Enidom explained that innovation and technical education are very instrumental to the growth of any developing economy.
They noted that the shift from technical education and it’s collapse also heralded the collapse of the economy with consequential rise in unemployment and other social vices such as drug abuse and other violent crimes.
Some of the graduands including, Uzor Ozioma Francisca and Precious Asoh who studied Hospitality and Tourism Management and Ogochukwu Mbakwe of the Fashion department all expressed joy over the success achieved through the school and assured to be an agent of positive change in the society.
The event climaxed with the inspection of the products by the Bishop in company of the wife of the Governor of Anambra State Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano and other guests.
