The third convention of the Joint Council of Knights, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has commenced with arrival service at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka.
The three-day Convention is being hosted by Awka Diocese with the theme’ Earnestly Contend for the Faith’.
Welcoming the participants, the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim said it is a moment for the Knights to reflect on their calling and review their relationship with God, pray and study the word of God so as to stand on the path of truth no matter the challenges.
Most Reverend Ibezim who is also the Bishop of Awka Diocese, asked the Knights, to defend their faith and reflect Christ in all they do for people to emulate and embrace Christ.
In a sermon to mark the arrival service, the Archdeacon, in the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Venerable Samuel Okonkwo said that the theme is all about fighting the good fight of faith which requires energy and aggression as God has a clear directive on what to do for the faithful.
Venerable Okonkwo told the Knights that their responsibility is to propagate the doctrine of Christ, debate and stand firm for the truth against error while being on guard.
The President, Awka Diocesan Council of Knights, Sir Emma Emelummadu, thanked Most Reverend Ibezim for his hospitality and for seeing to the success of the convention.
The group had earlier on arrival paid a courtesy call on Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim at Archbishop’s palace, Emmaus House complex in Awka.
